Any GT-R owner that has put their car through the paces at the track has had to address the issue of brake fade. The pure size and power of the GT-R simply abolishes brake pads when pushed to the limits on the track.
The crew at Stillen has created an active brake cooling solution for R35 GT-R owners that are tired of second guessing, pulling off, or taking it easy on the track because of brake pad fade.
This kit was tested at El Toro Air Force base by the Stillen team with a successive 140-0 runs as well as laps around their test track. One side of the car was equipped with the cooling system, the other was stock. All 4 calipers were given temp stickers to help monitor the caliper temperature during the test. At the end of the day, the Stillen brake cooling system dropped rotor temps by over 200 degrees.
There are two kits available from Stillen for the GT-R. The front brake cooling kit consists of a weather resistant electric fan, mounting brackets, wiring kit and switch, and poly-urethane air diversion splitter. The rear brake cooling kit consists of poly urethane air scoops which take advantage of the factory NACA ducts in the belly pan, accordion tube, polyurethane air funnel, and mounting brackets.
We offer the STILLEN brake cooling kit as a separate front and rear kit, or complete package. During Stillen’s testing they found that with the VDC off, the rear brake cooling isn’t 100% necessary. This is due to the fact that brakes need some heat in order to function properly. If you are like 99% of the GT-R owners, you more than likely utilize the VDC function and therefore it is recommended to purchase the rear brake cooling system as well.
Please select front, rear or both via the drop down menu above.
