Shark Injector Options
Standard Performance Software - The car's Sport and DSC functions remain the same as stock but all of the other Shark Injector benefits (more horsepower and torque, smoother engine, quicker throttle response) are added. Choose from stock rev limit or a raised 8100 rpm rev limit AND Choose your minimum octane requirement (91 or 93).
Sport Mode Memory - Even when you turn the ignition off you can keep the Sport mode activated. This is extremely useful if spend all of your time in Sport mode. Now you won't have to repeatedly push the button every time you turn the car on! Available with the 8100 rpm rev limit only.
DSC button controls Sport mode - With this feature you can control how the DSC and Sport mode interact. By pressing the DSC button and turning the system off you will automatically engage Sport mode. And by turning DSC back on, the Sport mode will disengage. This effectively de-activates the Sport button on the console. You'll only have to push one button instead of two! Available with 8100 rpm rev limit only.
How does the Shark Injector work exactly?
The Shark Injector's software replaces the stock BMW software but not all of BMW's programming is changed. When plugged in and the button is pressed, the Injector reads the stock software and stores it for later retrieval if necessary. It also records the VIN and other required information. Then it programs the DME with its new Shark Injector files. After programming, the Share Injector verifies that the transfer of data was completed.
Does the Shark Injector void my warranty?
No. Federal law prohibits a manufacturer from voiding a warranty simply because aftermarket parts are present. The installed aftermarket part has to be the cause of a failure on the warranty part (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty & Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act)
Is the Shark Injector tune for CAI and Exhaust?
Yes. The Shark Injector is compatible with a Cold Air Intake such as the one designed by Jim Conforti (also the designer of the Shark Injector). It is assumed that software will not be the only modification that you make to your vehicle and the Shark Injector software takes this into account. Cat-back exhaust modifications do not need special programming.
Does the Shark Injecctor cause and Check Engine Lights?
No. The Shark Injector is only refining certain parts of the BMW software to maximize the greater potential of teh higher octane fuel. Changes are made to the timing and fuel maps to achieve this. If the check engine light does appear, it is the BMW software telling you there is a problem with something else- not caused by the Shark Injector.
Does the software "go away" over time and will the Shark ever need to be re-installed?
No. BMW software is adaptive to your driving habits but, no, the Shark Injector software never disappears from the computer.
Will changes in the rev limit be reflected on my dash?
No, the Shark Injector does not change the rev limit that is set on your dash.
